Cie'th Stone Missions

  • As in Final Fantasy XIII, players get to try their hand at taking down some of the game's biggest and baddest enemies. Only the strong should apply.

These missions become available once you reach the Archylte Steppe in Chapter 11 (though the ideal time to tackle most of them is after you have completed Chapter 13).

To start a hunt, you must first find its corresponding Cie'th Stone. Note that it is probably not advisable to complete the hunts in sequential order, as some marks can be much, much more powerful than a mark on a later hunt. Hunts are ranked on a Class system from D to A, with D being the easiest and A the hardest.

Once you take on a hunt, that Cie'th Stone remains active. You can only have one active Cie'th Stone at a time, so if you accept a mission at a different stone, the first stone become inactive. After you slay a mark, you can return to its Cie'th Stone at any time to replay that mission.

Mission 01

  • Pond Scum

This mission is more than doable when you first reach the Archylte Steppe. After reading the Cie'th Stone and accepting the mission, your mark will appear as a pink star on your map. Head there and get a preemptive strike on it by sneaking up to it. Immediately use Libra to discover that physical attacks don't work on the Ectopudding. Shift paradigms to Relentless Assault so that your Commandos then use Ruin before the Stagger runs out. Shift to Delta Attack to finish off this mark.

Ugallu is located in Yaschas Massif and to get to there you will need go through where you first entered the steppe to Vallis Media. From there keep head north and follow the path until you reach Yaschas Massif, the mark is opposite the second save point. Start the battle with the paradigm Decimation or All for One until you at least have haste on all you characters, then shift to Relentless Attack and keep attacking till Ugallu is staggered, then unleash all your attacks at him. Use Diversty if you need to heal and use antidotes or esuna if poisoned. Ugallu should be defeated after you have staggered him once or twice.

The Cie'th Stone will be opposite where Ugallu was in the last mission. The marker on the map says Adroa is right next to you however you will have to run all the way around Yaschas Massif to get to it (you can pick up a few treasure boxes on your way down). This fight can be annoying if you let it. You face four Adroa's and two Verdelet's.The annoying thing about this battle is that the Verdelet's have a move called conjure and they spawn another Adroa to battle, the worst bit is that the Adroa's have a move called summon where they spawn a Ugallu. If you let them spawn to many enemy's your going to find your self heavily out numbered making the battle a lot harder. Start off with Decimation paradgrim and then run in and attack them all with Blitz or Ruinaga if you have it. Change to relentless attack once you have haste on everybody. Try to take the Verdelet's out first, then the Adroa's.If you a staggered enemy is using conjure or summon you can launch them to cancel the move. If a Ugallu is summoned then switch to Diversity and just keep using Blitz or Ruinaga, then finish off the Ugallu last if summoned.
